Anthony Raposo, 39, of Fredericksburg, was behind the wheel of a car stopped at the Wawa on Garrisonville Road in Stafford when officers realized the vehicle had a fake temporary license plate around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, they said.

Officers tried to speak with him, but he sped onto southbound I-95, reaching speeds of up to 120 miles per hour at one point.

Meanwhile, Quinn Poole, 27, of Dumfries, was sitting in the passenger seat as Raposo struck a guardrail near the 126 exit, police said.

But, the chase didn't end there.

He reversed and pulled away before continuing all the way to the 5400 block of Southpoint Plaza in Spotsylvania County, where the pursuit finally ended.

When officers approached the vehicle, they said Raposo had dilated pupils and was extremely unsteady on his feet. It was later revealed he was wanted out of Caroline and Spotsylvania counties for multiple charges.

Poole gave deputies a fake name and was believed to have been storing drugs, police said.

As a result, she was taken to Rappahannock Regional Jail, where she swore under oath to her false identity and signed documents using the fake name, authorities said.

Once the fingerprint results came in, her real name was revealed.

Poole was also wanted out of Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg for multiple charges.

Poole was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of schedule I or II controlled substances
  • Possession of schedule III controlled substances
  • Four counts of forgery
  • Perjury
  • Falsely identifying herself to law enforcement
  • Identity theft to avoid arrest

Raposo was charged with the following offenses:

  • Driving under the influence
  • Eluding
  • Failure to maintain the lane of travel
  • Reckless driving
  • Improperly passing on the shoulder
  • Operating an uninsured vehicle
  • Not wearing a seatbelt
  • Hit and run
  • Altering of a license plate
  • Two counts of possession of schedule I or II controlled substances
  • Possession of schedule III controlled substances
  • False statement to police

Both were served on their outstanding warrants as well and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
